More South Australian artists than ever before were showcased at this year’s South by Southwest Music Festival last week in Austin, Texas highlighting the state’s music talent on the world stage.
Local artists Teenage Joans, Dean Forever, Germein, MANE, PINES and Tushar all performed at the event.
Minister for Arts, Andrea Michaels MP was pleased to see so many South Australian artists at the Festival:
“It is incredible to see a record number of South Australian artists showcase their music on such a prominent international stage”, she said.
“We have so much musical talent in South Australia and our Government is committed to supporting our artists and musicians to reach their career aspirations and shine globally – we’ll even help shout them a plane ticket.”
The artists were backed through the Export Contribution Fund, a partnership between the South Australian Government’s Music Development Office and Sounds Australia, which provides It provides a $3,000 contribution to travel costs for eligible artists who receive an official invitation to showcase at South By South West and numerous other international events.
